Starting events analysis
What we want to do is...
EHE group has searched for EHE neutrinos by looking for more luminous events
than the atmospheric muon background events.
Rejection and estimation of the background muons are central
for this analysis.
However the simulation of the atmospheric muons is
associated with rather incomplete knowledge of the hadronic interactions
in relevant energy range,
which leads to hard-to-reduce uncertainty in background rejection.
One way to reduce this uncertainty is to select the neutrino events
which are induced inside the detector instrumented volume
(neutrino starting events).
This study intended to distinguish neutrino starting events
from muon through-going events.
