End of Session¶
Before new D-Eggs can be loaded into the freezer, the current group must be removed. The procedure for retrieval largely follows that of the installation with a few exceptions.
Freezer¶
As mentioned in various sections, ensure the freezer is safe to enter before opening the door. This includes disabling the high voltage and laser systems. Disable the freezer thermostat.
Due to condensation, the inside of the freezer will likely be very humid. Please remove large amounts of water from the components and floor before beginning other work.
Retrieval¶
Consider starting with the two boxes which will be blocked by the ramp installation (L-B-1 and R-B-1).
Un-seal the D-Egg box by removing tape connected to the box, not the black plastic.
Carefully open the door (important for those on the second level).
Disconnect the PCA from the signal cable, place the signal cable on top of the box.
Unlock the holder wheels and remove the D-Egg.
If on the second level, two people should firmly grab the holder and lower it to the ground.
With one person to receive the D-Egg, one person should push the holder out of the freezer and down the ramp.
Final Inspection¶
Once the D-Egg is outside the freezer, before moving it from the laboratory room, perform a final inspection.
Locate the relevant traveller in the FAT Traveller Book
Visually inspect the glass, harness, gel. Did any changes occur during the testing at low temperature?
Record an information in the traveller and move the D-Egg back to the crane.
See the Packing Manual for further details about preparing the D-Egg for shipping.
